We are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to take ownership of compliance across buymie, with a particular focus on our gig economy operating model and independent contractor workforce.

You will ensure the business understands its regulatory obligations, maintains effective controls, and is prepared for audits, inspections and regulatory queries.

This role will work closely with Operations, HR, Legal, Data Privacy and Product, acting as the key point of contact for compliance matters across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the compliance framework for our independent contractor model.

  • Monitor Irish employment status requirements and relevant case law, including the principles arising from the Karshan judgment.

  • Regularly audit how contractors are engaged and managed in practice.

  • Identify and address worker classification and contractor compliance risks.

  • Oversee contractor onboarding, right to work, identity, insurance and documentation requirements.

  • Maintain appropriate records and evidence supporting the contractor model.

  • Maintain readiness for engagement with relevant Irish authorities, including the WRC, Revenue, Department of Social Protection, HSA, FSAI/HSE, DPC and CCPC.

  • Lead internal compliance audits and maintain a central compliance and risk register.

  • Track audit findings and corrective actions through to completion.

  • Act as the internal point of contact for inspections, audits and regulatory information requests.

  • Monitor relevant Irish and EU regulatory developments.

  • Maintain appropriate food-safety and HACCP based processes.

  • Review food handling, cold chain and delivery processes.

  • Support health and safety compliance, risk assessments and incident investigations.

  • Identify mandatory compliance training and work with HR and relevant teams to maintain training records.

  • Use audit and incident findings to improve processes and training.

  • Work with the Data Privacy function to ensure operational processes comply with GDPR.

  • Review how customer and contractor data is collected, accessed, stored and shared.

  • Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures.

  • Ensure policies reflect actual business practices and are updated following regulatory or operational changes.

  • Provide regular compliance and risk updates to senior management.

Your profile

  • 5+ years' experience in compliance, risk, audit, platform operations, retail operations or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of the Irish regulatory environment.

  • Experience working with independent contractors, platform workers or non standard workforce models.

  • Good understanding of Irish employment-status and worker classification requirements.

  • Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments.

  • Experience developing practical policies, processes and controls.

  • Strong documentation and record keeping skills.

  • Ability to work confidently with senior management, legal advisers and external regulators.

  • Strong judgement and the confidence to challenge processes where they create compliance risk.

  • Desirable: HACCP, food safety, health & safety, audit, risk or compliance qualifications.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

  • A practical, risk-based approach to compliance.

  • Strong investigative and problem solving abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear operational processes.

  • Confidence working independently and building compliance frameworks from the ground up.

  • Ability to influence and challenge teams without directly managing their day to day activities.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • Effective completion of the annual compliance audit programme.

  • Timely closure of identified compliance actions.

  • Strong contractor compliance and documentation.

  • High completion rates for mandatory training.

  • Positive food safety, health & safety and regulatory audit outcomes.

  • A well-documented and regularly reviewed worker classification framework.

  • Clear evidence that compliance risks are being identified, managed and reduced.
